VEGO

Vego by Anna Sudy

‘Vego’ is a modular facade greening system consisting of single bricks supporting wild growth in urban areas. Each brick element, filled with plant substrate and seeds, allows plants to grow through its outer hole structure. The focus is to create a relationship between architectural elements and plants as co-designers.

Who Residents who suffer from overheated cities and little green areas — as well as birds, insects and plants, whose natural habitats are often limited.

Why The temperature in cities is rising steadily. To sustain a liveable environment for both humans and animals, a solution has to be found. ‘Vego’ is an approach to design architecturally interesting facades that provide additional value for a city’s appearance, whilst simultaneously being the canvas for vegetation to grow on. This epitomises the idea of nature reclaiming its space.

How ‘Vego’ is installed as a ventilated curtain facade and includes an automated drainage system. The mounting functions through vertical metal bars and metal profiles. Each brick is filled with plant substrate and seeds, but also allows flying wild seeds to anchor themselves. The facade creates its own ecosystem, therefore the look of the facade changes every season.

Where In urban areas, where vegetation and cooling are desired, and also on old facades, which are in need of a new appearance.
