Planket

PLANKET by Artemis Dundovic

‘Planket’, a green facade installation, is an innovative and sustainable solution for building facades that acts as a protective blanket made up of planters, mesh, and plants. It provides weather protection, creates a sound barrier, and maintains temperature for the building. For the environment, it reduces carbon dioxide emissions, creates healthier cities and cleaner air. Lastly, it creates an aesthetically pleasing look that blends the building’s architecture with organic shapes created by the plants.

Who ‘Planket’ is designed for architects, building owners, and urban planners who are looking to incorporate sustainable and environmentally friendly features into their buildings.

Why ‘Planket’ provides several benefits to the buildings and the environment. It protects the facade and reduces the need for artificial heating and cooling, making it an ideal choice for those who prioritize sustainability. It helps to create healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environments, making it an attractive option for building owners and occupants.

How The installation consists of planters that are securely attached to the bottom of the building and filled with soil and plants. The planters are connected to drain pipes from the roof, allowing excess rainwater to be collected and stored in in-between basins. The mesh is installed to the building’s facade, and as the plants grow, they cling to the mesh, allowing the geometric accustomed architecture to be dissolved smoothly into the organic plant structure.

Where ‘Planket’ should be installed in urban areas where air pollution is an issue and vegetation is needed.  It can also be installed on buildings that require heating and cooling regulations, and can be applied on both new and old facades.
